PRGenericStorage error message when merging

Problem

When a user wants to merge a record, they get an error message:

“Merge Failed (…) DELETE_FAILED, Insufficient privileges to read PRGenericStorage__c records.”

Answer

This error occurs when 

  • A user wants to merge some records,
  • Track Merge is enabled for that Object, and
  • The user does not have the Plauti Restore User permission set.

To be able to track merges for a certain Object, users who perform those merges should have the Plauti Restore User permission set. 

Note that the Plauti Restore User permission set also gives them access to the Plauti Restore Changes tab and record component, where they can then restore (undo) merges and other changes. If they should not be able to restore changes, but should be able to merge records, deny them access to the Restore Changes tab and record component.
