If you come across a group of records that you do not want to process as duplicates, you can discard one or more records from the group.
Discard records only for the current duplicate search, or for all future searches.
Sometimes you come across records that are very similar, but that you would not consider to be duplicate records of each other. You could adjust your scenarios so that these records are not detected as duplicates anymore, but that is not always possible without missing other records that are true duplicates. As an alternative you can decide to discard records from the search results.
Discard records one time only, for example if one of the records is incomplete and you want to have a closer look at them at a later point, but for now you want to remove them from the search results. With the option 'Discard Selected Records' you remove them from view for now, but next time you perform a duplicate search they will be found and shown again.
Or, discard records more permanently by marking them as False Positives. This way they will not be shown again as duplicates of each other in future searches. These discards will be recorded on the False Positives page (see below) where they can be retrieved if needed.
Duplicate Check Job
On the DC Job Results Overview page there are several ways to discard records.
- At the right of a duplicate result group, open the Discard Options menu for discard options that will be applied to all records in the group (even if no records are selected).
You can discard the records for this job only, and have them shown again in future searches, or mark them all as False Positives of each other and do not show them again.
- Open a duplicate group and select one record.
You can discard the record for this job only by clicking Discard Selected Records at the left side of the group.
- Open a duplicate group and select two or more records.
You can discard the records for this job only by clicking Discard Selected Records, or mark the records as False Positives of by clicking Discard Selected Records as False Positives.
Records discarded as False Positives in a group will be marked as being False Positives in relation to each other.
Deduplicate Live
When you create a new record or edit an existing one, duplicates might be found as well. These are displayed on the record's Duplicates Found tab. On that tab, select one or more duplicate records, and click the Discard Selected Records as False Positives.
The record you are currently working on, in combination with the selected record(s), are now marked as False Positives of each other, and will not be shown again as being potentially duplicate records.
False Positives
All records marked as false positives can be found, and retrieved if needed, on tab False Positives, accessible via the Plauti Deduplicate app in the left hand menu.
False Positives are displayed as a record pair.

If some records were marked as false positives incorrectly, you can undo that here.
Select the record pair that should not be considered false positives of each other after all, and click Undo Selected Discards.

Plauti Deduplicate will now find the records involved as duplicates again. Note that in the Deduplicate Job that you discarded them from, they will not be displayed again as job results; only in new jobs you run or when editing one of the records.
