Analysis Type Configuration

In Object Configuration you can configure:

• Which Fields should be analyzed
• Which Analysis Types should be used for analyzing

The Fields and Analysis Types tabs both offer this configuration, just from a different standpoint: decide per Field which Analysis Types and settings should be used, or decide per Analysis Type to which Fields it should be applied and with which settings, or whether it should be used at all.

Changes made on one tab are also reflected on the other tab.
Default settings, if present, are managed via the Analysis Types tab.

Configuring Analysis Types on the Analysis Types tab

On the ‘Analysis Types’ tab, all Analysis Types available to the Object are listed, along with the number of Fields that have this Analysis Type in use, and an indication of how many of those are using default or custom Analysis settings.
At the top you'll find the Default Setting (where applicable), the configuration as it is used for all fields that do not have a custom configuration applied.

To define an Analysis Type's default settings, and apply and configure an Analysis Type to certain Fields:

1. At the Analysis Type, click Configure at right.

The Analysis Type Configuration modal opens. The Info box at the top describes what this analysis does.

2. In the Default Setting section (if present), decide if you want to use the current default settings or adjust them. Fold open with the ‘Configure’ chevron button to view details and adjust the settings (see below).
   If the Default Setting section is not present, the Analysis Type cannot be configured further.
3. Below, scroll through the list or enter a field name in the Search box to find fields.

At each field:

4. Toggle Enabled to enable or disable the Analysis Type for this Field. Or click Enable All / Disable All top right to enable or disable the Analysis Type for all Fields in one go.
   Disabled Analysis Types are not applied to this field when running a Configured Monitor Job for this Object. This saves storage space as well as job runtime. However, the analysis type can still be selected for the field when running an Ad Hoc job.
5. Configuration displays the current settings of the Analysis Type for this Field; when starting out these are usually the default settings.
   Decide if you want to use the current settings or adjust them. Fold open with the ‘Configure’ chevron button to view details and set custom settings (see below).
   If the Configuration column is not present, the Analysis Type cannot be configured further.
6. Click Save to save your changes.

In the Fields list, custom configurations are now labelled “Override”. Fold open and click Use Default to change the custom setting back to the default setting.
Keep in mind though that custom settings were changed to their custom values with a reason; check whether it makes sense to use the default settings instead.

Adjusting Configurations

Each Analysis Type comes with default settings based on best practices. Of course each Organization is different, so you might want to have different settings for certain analyses, such as different thresholds or case sensitivity.

To change a Default Setting or individual Analysis Type configuration:

1. Fold open the details of a configuration with the chevron button in the or ‘Default Setting’ section or ‘Configuration’ column as described above.
2. The ‘Default Configuration’ or ‘Field-Level Configuration Override’ view folds open.

Depending on the Analysis Type you can adjust parameters such as thresholds, case-sensitivity, date ranges, etc.

• For Case Sensitive: toggle to Active to distinguish between upper and lower case characters.
• For Thresholds: move the threshold indicators to set a lower and upper threshold. The labels and colors indicate which values are considered good or less good.
  Use the Switch To button to reverse the threshold interpretation: switch between ‘lower values are considered better’ and ‘higher values are considered better’.
• For Date Input Type: choose between a Fixed Date, or a Date Literal: a relative date such as the last 5 years (LASTNYEARS:5), or TODAY. Date Literal analyses calculate from the date the analysis job was run; the analysis results only update when you run another analysis job.
• A Threshold Date is used, for example, to analyze all values before or after that date.
• For Minimum Occurrences, enter a minimum number. If a certain value occurs less often than the set number, it will not be displayed in the results.

3. When you have finished configuring an override or default configuration, make sure to click Apply. When you have finished all, click Save.

The new field configuration is being applied. This might take a short while.
