Set up Plauti MCP in Claude

Last updated

Learn how to add Plauti MCP to Claude Desktop and Claude Code.

Before you start

  • Install Plauti Desktop. If you already use Plauti Desktop, you already have Plauti MCP.
  • You do not need to open Plauti Desktop or log in to it. Plauti MCP works on its own.
  • Make sure the Plauti ECA package is installed in every Salesforce org you want to connect to, and that your Salesforce user has access to it. Without it, you cannot log in to Salesforce from Claude. You need a Salesforce admin to install it. See Install the ECA for Salesforce Connections.

Note: Plauti MCP runs on your own computer. It works in the Claude Desktop app and in Claude Code. It does not work in Claude in the browser (claude.ai).

Claude Desktop on Windows

  1. Open Claude Desktop.
  2. Go to Settings > Developer and click Edit Config.
    This opens the folder with the file claude_desktop_config.json. Open this file in a text editor. You can also find the file here: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  3. Add Plauti MCP to the file.
    Look at what is in the file now, and follow the situation that matches. In every situation, replace <your-user> with your Windows user name. Type every backslash twice (\\), because the file uses the JSON format.

Situation A: the file is empty, or only contains {} Replace everything in the file with:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "C:\\Users\\<your-user>\\AppData\\Local\\Programs\\Plauti Desktop\\resources\\mcp\\plauti-mcp.exe",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}

Situation B: the file has other settings, but no "mcpServers"

Add the "mcpServers" section after the last setting, just before the final } of the file. Type a comma after the } that closes the setting above it.

{
    "preferences": {
        "sidebarMode": "chat"
    },
    "mcpServers": {
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "C:\\Users\\<your-user>\\AppData\\Local\\Programs\\Plauti Desktop\\resources\\mcp\\plauti-mcp.exe",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}

Situation C: the file already has a "mcpServers" section

Add only the "plauti-mcp" entry inside "mcpServers", after the last server. Do not replace the whole file, or you will lose your other MCP servers.

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "other-server": {
            "command": "C:\\path\\to\\other-server.exe"
        },
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "C:\\Users\\<your-user>\\AppData\\Local\\Programs\\Plauti Desktop\\resources\\mcp\\plauti-mcp.exe",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}
  1. Save the file.
  2. Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again. Closing the window is not enough.
    Right-click the Claude icon in the system tray and choose Quit.
  3. To check that it works, go to Settings > Developer. plauti-mcp is in the list of local MCP servers.

Claude Desktop on macOS

  1. Open Claude Desktop.
  2. Go to Settings > Developer and click Edit Config.
    This opens the folder with the file claude_desktop_config.json. Open this file in a text editor. You can also find the file here: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  3. Add Plauti MCP to the file.
    Look at what is in the file now, and follow the situation that matches.

Situation A: the file is empty, or only contains {} Replace everything in the file with:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}

Situation B: the file has other settings, but no "mcpServers"

Add the "mcpServers" section after the last setting, just before the final } of the file. Type a comma after the } that closes the setting above it.

{
    "preferences": {
        "sidebarMode": "chat"
    },
    "mcpServers": {
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp",
            "args": []
        }
    }
  }

Situation C: the file already has a "mcpServers" section

Add only the "plauti-mcp" entry inside "mcpServers", after the last server. Do not replace the whole file, or you will lose your other MCP servers.

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "other-server": {
            "command": "/path/to/other-server"
        },
        "plauti-mcp": {
            "command": "/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}
  1. Save the file.
  2. Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again. Closing the window is not enough.
    Choose Claude > Quit Claude.
  3. To check that it works, go to Settings > Developer. plauti-mcp is in the list of local MCP servers.

Claude Code

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Run the command for your operating system. --scope user makes Plauti MCP available in all your projects.

macOS:

claude mcp add --transport stdio --scope user plauti-mcp -- "/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp"

Windows: replace <your-user> with your Windows user name.

claude mcp add --transport stdio --scope user plauti-mcp -- "C:\Users\<your-user>\AppData\Local\Programs\Plauti Desktop\resources\mcp\plauti-mcp.exe"
  1. To check that it works, type /mcp in Claude Code, or run claude mcp list in a terminal. plauti-mcp shows as connected.

Note: Did you install Plauti Desktop in a different folder? Then change the path in the examples to match. See Where to find Plauti MCP.
