Set up Plauti MCP in ChatGPT

Last updated

Learn how to use Plauti MCP with OpenAI's Codex, and how to add it to other AI apps.

Why Codex and not ChatGPT

Plauti MCP runs on your own computer. ChatGPT in the browser and on mobile can only connect to MCP servers on the internet, so it cannot use Plauti MCP.

Codex is OpenAI's AI assistant that runs on your computer. Codex is included with ChatGPT plans, and it can use Plauti MCP. Sign in to Codex with your ChatGPT account.

Before you start

  • Install Plauti Desktop. If you already use Plauti Desktop, you already have Plauti MCP.
  • You do not need to open Plauti Desktop or log in to it. Plauti MCP works on its own.
  • Make sure the Plauti ECA package is installed in every Salesforce org you want to connect to, and that your Salesforce user has access to it. Without it, you cannot log in to Salesforce from Codex. You need a Salesforce admin to install it. See Install the ECA for Salesforce Connections.
  • Install Codex and sign in with your ChatGPT account.

Codex

  1. Open the Codex configuration file in a text editor. If the file does not exist yet, create it.
    • macOS: ~/.codex/config.toml
    • Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codex\config.toml
  2. Add Plauti MCP to the file.

macOS:

[mcp_servers.plauti-mcp]
command = "/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp"

Windows: replace <your-user> with your Windows user name. Keep the single quotes ('). With single quotes, you type each backslash only once.

[mcp_servers.plauti-mcp]
command = 'C:\Users\<your-user>\AppData\Local\Programs\Plauti Desktop\resources\mcp\plauti-mcp.exe'
  1. Save the file.
  2. Restart Codex.
  3. To check that it works, type /mcp in Codex. plauti-mcp is in the list.

Note: Did you install Plauti Desktop in a different folder? Then change the path in the examples to match. See Where to find Plauti MCP.

Next step

Use Plauti MCP: connect to your Salesforce org and start asking questions.
