Learn what Plauti MCP is, what you need to use it, and where to find it on your computer.
What is Plauti MCP
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way to connect AI assistants, such as Claude, to other systems.
Plauti MCP connects your AI assistant to your Salesforce org and to Plauti Deduplicate. You ask questions in plain language, and the assistant does the work for you. Jobs run locally on your own computer.
Good to know
- Plauti MCP comes with Plauti Desktop v3.0.0 and later. To get Plauti MCP, install Plauti Desktop.
- Do you already use Plauti Desktop? Make sure you have version 3.0.0 or later. If you do, you already have Plauti MCP. You do not need to install anything else on your computer.
- Plauti MCP needs the Plauti ECA package in Salesforce. Install it in every Salesforce org you want to connect to, and give your Salesforce user access to it. Without it, you cannot log in to Salesforce from your AI app. See Install the ECA for Salesforce Connections.
- Plauti MCP works on its own. You do not need to set anything up in Plauti Desktop. Plauti Desktop does not have to be open, and you do not have to log in to it. Plauti MCP only needs Plauti Desktop to be installed.
- Ready to set it up? You set up Plauti MCP in your AI app, not in Salesforce. Go to: Set up in Claude, Set up in ChatGPT, Set up in other AI apps.
What you can do with Plauti MCP
Once Plauti MCP is set up in your AI app, you ask the assistant to do these things for you, in plain language. You don’t do them yourself in Salesforce or Plauti Desktop.
- Connect to Salesforce. Ask the assistant to connect to your production org or sandbox org. It opens the Salesforce login page in your browser, and you log in the same way you normally do.
- Manage matching scenarios. A scenario holds the rules that decide which records are duplicates. Ask the assistant to list, create, update or delete scenarios. You can also ask it to test a scenario on two records, to see how they score, field by field.
- Run Deduplicate jobs. Ask the assistant to create and start a job. It can tell you how the job is progressing, read the job log for you and stop the job if needed.
- Review results. Ask the assistant to show the duplicate groups and pairs a job found, with their scores. It can open a group and show the record values side by side, not only the scores. Before you merge, it can show you a preview of which record would be kept. This record is called the master.
- Merge duplicates. Ask the assistant to merge one pair at a time, or to merge all pairs in a job automatically when they score above a threshold. It can also convert leads automatically.
For example prompts, see Use Plauti MCP.
Requirements
- Plauti Desktop installed on macOS or Windows. Plauti MCP is not available for Linux.
- Plauti Deduplicate installed in your Salesforce org.
- The Plauti ECA package installed in every Salesforce org you want to connect to. Without it, the Salesforce login fails with the error
OAUTH_EC_APP_NOT_FOUND. Your Salesforce user must have access to the app. See Install the ECA for Salesforce Connections. - A Salesforce user with access to Plauti Deduplicate in that org.
- An AI app that can run local MCP servers, for example:
- Claude Desktop or Claude Code. See Set up Plauti MCP in Claude.
- Codex, for ChatGPT users. See Set up Plauti MCP in ChatGPT.
- Cursor, or any other app that supports local (stdio) MCP servers. See Set up Plauti MCP in other AI apps.
Note: Plauti MCP runs on your own computer, so it only works with apps you install on your computer. Claude in the browser (claude.ai) and ChatGPT in the browser or on mobile cannot use Plauti MCP.
Where to find Plauti MCP
To set up Plauti MCP in your AI app, you need the location of the Plauti MCP file. The file is in the Plauti Desktop installation folder.
macOS, if Plauti Desktop is in the Applications folder (the standard location):
/Applications/Plauti Desktop.app/Contents/Resources/mcp/plauti-mcp
Windows, if Plauti Desktop is in the default installation folder:
C:\Users\<your-user>\AppData\Local\Programs\Plauti Desktop\resources\mcp\plauti-mcp.exe
Replace <your-user> with your Windows user name. You can also write this path as %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Plauti Desktop\resources\mcp\plauti-mcp.exe.
Note: On Windows, you can choose a different installation folder when you install Plauti Desktop. If you did, change the path to match.
Plauti MCP does not need any extra settings or arguments. You only point your AI app to this file.
