Learn how to connect Plauti MCP to your Salesforce org, what you can ask, and how to solve common problems.
Before you start, set up Plauti MCP in your AI app. See Set up Plauti MCP in Claude or Set up Plauti MCP for ChatGPT users.
Connect to your Salesforce org
Plauti MCP needs access to your Salesforce org before it can do anything. You only log in once per session.
- In your AI app, ask the assistant to connect. Say whether you want your production org or a sandbox org. For example:
- "Connect to my Salesforce production org."
- "Connect to my Salesforce sandbox."
- A browser window opens with the Salesforce login page. Log in with your Salesforce user name and password.
- If Salesforce asks, allow access.
- Go back to your AI app. Tell the assistant that you have logged in.
The assistant confirms which org and which user it is connected to.
Tip: Did no browser window open? The assistant shows a login link. Open that link in your browser to continue.
Note: Does your org block the standard Salesforce login page? Then give the assistant your My Domain address, for example "Connect to production using mycompany.my.salesforce.com". Most orgs do not need this.
How long does the connection last
The connection lasts as long as your AI app keeps Plauti MCP running. When you quit your AI app, Plauti MCP logs out of Salesforce. The next time you start your AI app, you log in again.
Plauti MCP connects to one org at a time. To work in a different org, restart your AI app and connect to the other org.
Example prompts
You do not need special commands. Ask what you want in your own words. These examples show what is possible.
Explore your org
- "Which objects do we have in Salesforce, and which fields does Contact have?"
- "How many leads were created this month without an email address?"
The assistant only reads data to answer questions like these. It does not change records.
Matching scenarios
- "Which matching scenarios do we have for Account?"
- "Make a scenario that matches leads on email and company name."
The assistant creates the scenario in Plauti Deduplicate and tests it on sample pairs, so you can see how it scores. - "Why are these two accounts not seen as duplicates?"
Add the two record Ids or links. The assistant tests your scenarios on both records and explains the score, field by field. - "Lower the threshold of my Contact scenario to 80 and test it on these two contacts."
Deduplicate jobs
- "How many duplicate contacts do we have?"
The assistant creates and runs a job, then summarizes the duplicate groups it found. - "What's the status of my job?"
The assistant checks the job in Salesforce and tells you whether it is still running, finished or failed. - "My job failed. What does the log say?"
- "Stop the job that is running."
Review results
- "Show me the top duplicate groups and suggest which record to keep."
The assistant lists the duplicate groups and previews a suggested master record. It does not change anything. - "Show me the records in this group side by side."
You see the actual field values of the records, not only the scores.
Merge and convert
- "Merge this pair."
- "Merge all pairs above 95% from this job."
The assistant starts an automatic merge for all pairs that score above the threshold. - "Convert the leads from this job automatically."
The assistant prepares an automatic lead conversion. The conversion job waits in the status Holding, and does not run from Plauti MCP.
Good to know
- The assistant asks before it changes data. Before it merges records, deletes a scenario or job, starts an automatic merge or conversion, or stops a job, the assistant asks you to confirm.
- Merging changes your Salesforce data. Try new scenarios and merges in a sandbox first.
- Jobs run on your computer. The first time you run a job, Plauti MCP downloads the job engine. This can take a moment.
- One job runs at a time. If a job is already running, wait until it is finished before you start the next one.
- Large jobs take time. On large objects, a job can run for several minutes, and it can look like nothing is happening. Ask the assistant to check the status again later.
- Your Plauti Deduplicate license applies. Jobs use your Plauti Deduplicate license and its limits. If you stop a job and start it again, it uses credits again.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Plauti MCP does not appear in your AI app. | Check that the path to the Plauti MCP file is correct. See Where to find Plauti MCP. Then quit your AI app completely and open it again. |
| No browser window opens when you connect. | Open the login link that the assistant shows. |
| The login does not finish. | A login attempt expires after 5 minutes. Ask the assistant to connect again. |
| The assistant says that the login ports are in use. | Plauti MCP uses ports 51837, 51838 and 51839 on your computer for the login. Close other apps that use these ports and try again. |
| The assistant says it is not connected. | You logged out when you quit your AI app. Ask the assistant to connect again. |
| You connected to the wrong org. | Restart your AI app and connect again with the right environment (production or sandbox). |
